About Our Scout Group

North Richmond Scout Group is located in Richmond, Surrey near The Old Deer Park and is a thriving Scout Group offering Beaver, Cub and Scout sections for both girls and boys, with meetings take place each week during normal school term-time

Our Activities

There’s a wide range of activities organised for our young people, and you can read more on our Beaver, Cub and Scout pages.

Scouting in our group offers:

  • Adventure and fun: Engaging in a wide range of activities outdoors and inside such as camping, water activities, team games, learning, fun and a chance to explore and create.
  • Personal development: Scouting builds confidence, encourages independence, and helps develop skills in planning, time management, and self-motivation.
  • Friendship and community: Scouts make new friends from diverse backgrounds, work together in teams, and develop a sense of belonging and responsibility.
  • A chance to make a difference: The Scouting Programme aims to empower young people to become responsible citizens and make a positive impact on their communities.
How our Scouting is delivered:

  • A Youth-Shaped Programme: The programme is flexible and planned in partnership with young people, ensuring it's relevant and engaging for their interests and needs.
  • Diverse activities: Activities cover outdoor adventures, global awareness, skills development, teamwork and much more, offering something for everyone regardless of their interests or physical ability.
  • Inclusive approach: Scouting is open to all genders, races, and backgrounds, with efforts to integrate all young people into group activities.

Our History

Our group has a very long history in Scouting.

Originally three Scout groups - 9th, 12th and 25th Richmond, we have been delivering Scouting to Richmond for over 100 years.

The three groups merged to form North Richmond with the group originally meeting in various halls around Richmond and ending up for a long periods from the 1960s at the St Johns Church halls, near Richmond Station.

The group then aquired it's own Scout Headquarters, our existing Scout Hut in the 1980s - in the Old Deer Park Car Park, opposite Richmond's Pools on the Park.

Leaders and Adults

We have a team of dedicated Adults volunteers running each section, who are all DBS checked and have taken part in Scouting Training including: first Aid, Saftey Safguarding and Inclusion. They put together the exciting programmes for the section, and are helped by other occasional adult helpers (usually parents) and Young Leaders, which are some of our older Scouts.
